Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier was placed on injured reserve Thursday because of a lower-body injury, according to the National Post, meaning he will miss at least their games Friday against the Detroit Red Wings and Saturday against the Washington Capitals.

Bernier last played Oct. 31 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was the backup to James Reimer on Monday against the Dallas Stars and was out of the lineup Wednesday against the Winnipeg Jets.

In games this season Bernier is 0-6-1 in seven games with a 3.02 goals-against average and .899 save percentage.

Reimer has started the past two games for Toronto, which recalled goaltender Antoine Bibeau from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

Bibeau, 21, was 5-1-0 with a 2.17 GAA and .908 save percentage in six appearances with the Marlies. He was a sixth-round pick (No. 172) in the 2013 NHL Draft.
