Butterfly Recovery

One of many drills from our database of quick drills for coaches to use on ice with their goaltenders.  In this drill the first shot is far enough away to allow the goaltender to recover to her feet, the second shot is in much closer so the goaltender is forced to slide to make the save.  This drill works on two recovery positions and should be done with 5 reps on both sides.

Key Points

  • ​When shooter is further away recover to feet
  • When shooter is close use a slide
  • This drill should be repeated on both sides
